city girl

is the best really yet to come, michael buble? *scoffs*

i bought two new cds on thursday:
Eric Clapton "Me & Mr. Johnson"
Michael Buble "Call Me Irresponsible"

Hence the random first sentence, cause the best is yet to come (yes it's a tony bennett song) is on michael buble's cd. I also would like to point out that the lyrics to "I'm Your Man" are really um, interestitng. Lots of innuendo, lol, if you get my drift. It's a sexy song though, so who cares. A lot sexier than Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On"... but we've already been there so we won't go there again. lol.

I'm eating girl scout cookies and looking out my window wishing i was somewhere out in the country with a fireplace drinking a glass of merlot... i've got the snow here but i want to get out of this city so bad right now. i'm okay with being in new england in this snow... it would just be better if i were out in the country. peace and quiet.

cheers.

that which was last weekend...

So. I was in New York again this weekend, and it was completely fabulous other than the jarring bus rides (yay chinatown bus!) and 2 am return...

Saturday I left at 10:30 (bus was running way late) and got into the city at around 2:30. Crossing various bridges made me nervous, as I have a really weird fear of suspension bridges.. even though I always love crossing the Manhattan bridge and seeing the Statue of Liberty off in the distance.
Waited in chinatown for Jennifer (neighbor/friend since we were 12) and she and another girl I knew from high school came and got me. We wandered over to little italy and had italian food with some of her friends from NYU and some other peeps. Terra (friend of mine i've had since the age of 2) met us there, and after we ate, we all headed over to Rice to Riches, a place that has like 80 bazillion choices of RICE PUDDING. I got raspberry rice pudding with toasted coconut on it. YUMMY. Then Jenn, Terra and I headed back to Jenn's dorm in Union Square. We hung out there just talking for a while, and then we headed out on the town! Wandered around St Marks area for a while and ended up finding this restaurant called Candela. Jenn's friend Sara met us there, and they had the best fucking shrimp I've ever had. I'm not even a big fan of shrimp. Yummy. A shrimp salad, a mojito, and a martini later, we left - Terra and me being the slightly intoxicated ones - and went to Pomme Frites at like 11pm, or something... Got fries, and went back to Sarah's dorm and watched Something's Gotta Give (love that movie) and all fell asleep while eating said fries. Left the dorm at like 1:30 am, said byebye to Terra, went back to Jenn's dorm and fell asleep.
Sunday, me and Jenn left the dorm at like 11, went to Bagel Bob's and had tasty bagels, then took the subway to midtown and headed to Bergdorf Goodman. God I could so live there...... ANYWAY so I tried on some Manolo's but they didn't fit uber well cause they didn't have a 7.5, only an 8... poo. Left Bergdorf DETERMINED to find the perfect shoes at the Manolo Blahnik boutique on W 54th (it's right across from MoMA)... lo and behold, I did. :) I love them. They are fabulous and I highly recommend buying some if you're a shoe fiend like myself. After buying my shoes, me and Jenn headed to the new location of Magnolia Bakery. OMFG x 10000 they have the most amazing cupcakes EVER. Seriously. I can't even explain how fucking amazing the cupcake was. After that we went to Chelsea Market for lunch, and then to Red Mango, where we shared some frozen yogurt. If you're familiar with Pinkberry, Red Mango is the original. They came before Pinkberry. And they're better! Then we went back to the dorm, hung out for a while... before heading out to meet Jenn's friends and walk across the Brooklyn Bridge to Grimaldi's Pizza. It's in Brooklyn and we waited in the friggin rain for an hour just to get in. Then we rushed back to the dorm so I could pack, and then me, Jenn, and Sarah took a cab to chinatown and I took the jarring 4 hour busride back. I got back at 2 am and got to my apartment at around 2:30... yeah. crazy crazy weekend.

moonboots unite!

So.

It's been cold and rainy all day, and it snowed last night. Yuck. But I have chocolate cake and tons of hours of Mythbusters to watch (i rented Mythbusters from blockbuster online) so all is well.

Last night after work I went out to a bar with my coworker Chris and his friend Parma. It was interesting.. My first bar experience! Apparently there's a mojito/rum bar in Pasadena, so I must go there when I'm back home for spring break or this summer. But yeah, I went to a bar! 8D Okay I know I sound lame being all excited about it sounding childish but.. eh, whatever. Bite me. New experiences are always exciting.

!!!!

I just found this!

It's like a moonboot, but... not, cause it's made by Burberry... omg it's a Burberry moonboot. *hides face*

very scary.

And I have a headache and I've had one for about five hours. Yuck.

People suck. There's no respect or common decency anymore.

cheers,
kate

A Comment... or a rant

A while back on AOL music, there was a list of the sexiest songs, the sexiest musicians, etc. I remember being a little confused as to why Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" was named the number one sexiest song, and Nine Inch Nails' "Closer" was at number two. There were a whole lotta other songs on that list that WAY deserved to be number one over Marvin Gaye. Not only do I think "Let's Get It On" isn't a sexy song, I think it's a retardedly stupid song at that. I picture green shag carpet and high-waisted white polyester pants and bad sparkling wine... *shudder* Of course being a huge Trent Reznor fan, I thought that "Closer" should have been number one on that list. It's a great song. It's not a song for the faint of heart, that's for sure. It's so vulnerable and dark and powerful and, well let's be honest, incredibly freakin' sexy! You feel his pain in that song, and his reason for wanting whoever he was singing about wasn't just about the sex factor, it was like, he had a tortured soul and he was fucked up and whatever. The song as a whole.. just an amazing song. I think it's a sexy song, but I definitely understand why a lot of people wouldn't think that. Which is fine.
My list of songs is as follows:
(in no particular order except for the first song)

Closer - Nine Inch Nails
Kiss - Prince
Cold - Annie Lenox (*i know a few of my friends agree with me on this song!)
The More I See You - Michael Buble
I've Got You Under My Skin - Michael Buble
Grace - Kate Havenevik
Skip Divided - Thom Yorke
Beside You In Time - Nine Inch Nails
Swing Low - Rocco Deluca and the Burden

there's other songs... like, not sexy but sweet. But yeah. Seriously though wtf marvin gaye? no. i'll take the freakin' beach boys over marvin gaye....

I'm eating macaroni and cheese huzzah! Also, even I was shocked at the outcome of the superbowl, even though i don't give two flying squirrels about football. Silly NE Patriots. At least it was quiet last night outside my apartment! hahahaha i'm so mean... Perhaps if Tom Brady wasn't out filandering with various women (come on ladies, he's got a baby mama, how gangsta is that?) he would be a better QB. Okay that doesn't make much sense, but who said anything I say makes any sense whatsoever? mac n cheeeeese. almost typed man n cheeeese so i fixed my spelling. haha.
